Frequently Asked Questions

Heritage and Design.

All Wright & Teague jewellery is designed by Gary Wright and Sheila Teague, hand made in London in our on-site workshop and hallmarked by the London Assay Office to authenticate the purity of the precious metals.
Each piece of jewellery we design has a distinctive style and energy and is intended to connect with the wearer’s own story, the moments and memories most precious to you.

Sustainability

Our company is run according to the dictates of our conscience. At the centre of our every endeavour is ethics. Our supply chain is clean, our London workshop where all our jewellery is handcrafted is environmentally sensitive, resource efficient and socially responsible. We are ethical from mine to wearer. Since the beginning it has never occurred to us to be otherwise.

We express our values through the choices we make. We invite you to enjoy our jewellery, to treat it with care, and celebrate your story through ours.

We are honoured to be represented in collections such as the V&A Museum, London.

Precious Metals

We exclusively use Fairtrade Gold and Recycled Silver and Platinum in our jewellery. Here is why we do this…

Because of the monetary value of precious metals, throughout history all waste, whether metal scraps or dust used in jewellery manufacturing is carefully collected and smelted to be refined and reused.

We go further- ensuring the metals we work from are already ethical, whether Fairtrade Gold or Recycled Silver and Platinum. We therefore create a circular manufacturing loop with no waste; a closed loop production from design, through making to distribution.

FairTrade Gold
Accreditation from the FairTrade Organisation means we know every gram of gold used by Wright & Teague originates from artisanal mines where working conditions and standards are higher and where raw gold creates possibilities for miners and their communities through the Fairtrade Premium.

Recycled silver
In the last several years extraction of silver from used electronic devices, photographic processing and solar panels has increased enormously making it possible that all jewellery can be made exclusively from recycled silver and no further extraction from the earth or sea is necessary. Jewellery and silverware manufacturing use 25% of all silver used in a year.

Platinum
The majority of newly mined Platinum is used in autocatalysts, with approximately 30% used to make jewellery.
Usually Platinum is a by-product of deep copper and nickel mining, 10,000 kilos of ore may produce only 30 grams of platinum, a capital, labour and environmentally expensive form of production. By using only Recycled Platinum we can lessen this invasive process.

While all metals were originally extracted from the earth, by only using those extracted by Fairtrade methods or are recycled we can reduce the need for large scale mining and ensure that these remain in circulation to be reused and re-loved over and over though time. A high percentage of all the precious materials ever mined are still in use.

Diamonds

All Wright & Teague diamonds have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with the Kimberley Process. Our diamonds are a minimum of VS1 clarity and F or higher in colour. We use an independent, internationally recognised non-profit trade body, GIA to certify our diamonds. Our beautiful Delphi ring setting complements a wide variety of stone shapes.

We are pleased to discuss any special requirements you may have, your choice of gemstone, and to work within your budget; please contact us on 020 7033 0775 or email studio@wrightandteague.com.

Coloured gems

Delphi rings are also stunning with coloured gemstones; aquamarines, sapphires, emeralds, rubies, tanzanites, take your pick! And shapes - round, marquise, heart and teardrop. We work with reputable stone dealers who ensure the quality and provenance of each stone.

Gift wrapping

We ship everything to you beautifully wrapped in hand-made papers which we source from around the world, often collecting them on our travels, finished with a silken bow. We take a lot of care and pride in making sure every piece of your jewellery is immaculately presented.

Care of your jewellery

All jewellery should be treated with care. To maintain the beauty of our jewellery we advise you to remove it when bathing, exercising or sleeping; jewellery is not indestructible. Store in acid free tissue paper and clean regularly with Goddard's jewellery cleaner or use a soft brush with liquid soap. Beads should never be immersed in jewellery cleaner. Wear with pleasure!
